MY BUSINESS
I am a full-time dealer and professional numismatist buying and selling all United States and Foreign Coins/Paper Money, 10K-22K Gold Jewelry/Scrap Gold, Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium Bullion, Sterling Silver Flatware, and select vintage sportscards. Since my overhead is very low, my buying prices are very strong when compared to most of my competition.

FUN STUFF
My 14-year-old daughter Rosalind has recorded a parody for the Early American Coppers Club from the introduction of the Dire Straits song "Money For Nothing" (introduction performed by Sting). If you want to hear it, just click on the link below:

EBAY AUCTIONS
Prices for nice material were very soft this month.
I will taking time off for an extended, 6-day Memorial Day weekend as my three children and wife (a teacher) have the entire time off because they did use their snow days!
When I get back, I will have a very meaty 1804 C-11 (Plain 4, Stems) Draped Bust Half Cent with at least VF30 sharpness, and a very desirable M1.0 die state. For those who are not intimately familiar with Half Cent die states, it means that the CENT on the reverse is struck up fully before the die starts to bulge in a convex fashion. Earlier die states for this scarcer Redbook variety are more desirable because the presentation is crisper.
ROBERT H. "BOB" YUELL
(EAC #218)
1936-2011
"The Whister" as he was known passed away on October 29 after a long illness. A Half Cent specialist, it was Bob's coins that you gaze upon on almost every example of my site sans the Massachusetts Half Cents. His coins exemplify the difference between a collection and a cabinet, and are indicative of a long-term effort and selective nature.
Even more important than being a top-notch numismatist, Bob was responsible for bringing his Half Cent friends together for the pursuit of "whisting;" taking two or more collections, comparing them, and using a scoring system at our annual EAC Conventions and a few other venues. Not only did we obtain scholarhship from one another, but this is where the "schmoozing" began as Bob liked to refer to it.
Like many, I was honored to call Bob my friend. Bob is survived by his wife Michelle and two daughters.
We are all going to miss "The Venerable Master" as I liked to call him.
IGARDEN STATE NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION CONVENTION RECAP
I attended parts of all three days of the GSNA Convention, which was held at the Ukranian Hall off of Interstate 287 in Somerset, NJ from May 17-19.
My show was solid walking the floor, getting rid of what I wanted to get rid of with the "usual suspects."
However, attendance was down, but many dealers seemed to have a decent show, while many dealers did not. Normally, the opinions and inventories of some dealers have to be taken with a grain of salt, but it was my impression that a few of the larger dealers did not do the amount of business that they would have liked to do.
As a 26-year Life Member who has seen the organization go through its ups and downs, it is without question that the organization needs to recruit younger volunteers so the seasoned and knowledgeable regime can guide them. The current board and volunteers are my friends, and they work tirelessly to put on a quality event, as does the Ukranian Hall (they have the best food and the cleanest restrooms of any show you will attend!)
I find the show to be a huge enigma. I do not expect the show to resemble its halcyon days when it was at the Hyatt in Cherry Hill, but it should be bustling more, or as a good friend would put it - agog with activity. I am not seeing enough new faces at the GSNA general meetings, and the EAC/C4 gathering was poorly attended despite a great deal of publicity between me and C4 past president Ray Williams. The location of the show could not be any better, as it accessible from almost every major highway in the state, and about 30 minutes from Staten Island.
If your local club has a club representative for the GSNA, please talk to them if you can offer your services and/or offer suggestions. Feedback is always welcome in a wide variety of areas. I am going to do my best to be more involved this year as well.
